music on friday / No.13

There are a lot of reasons to be excited for friday, besides the fact that for the most of us the weekend starts here, on a friday many albums got released. So, for a music lover like me, it's a day full of listening to new albums and picking up some records I pre-ordered at my favorite recordstore. (no other than Popeye in Hengelo, here in Berlin I am still looking for one I can call my favorite) On Fridays I will update this Spotify playlist with music which, I think, is worth listening to.

Record Story Day already happened two weeks ago, which every year needs my attention. I think it is really important for the vinyl business to buy your records at local stores. Not only the atmosphere of those stores appeals to me, but the love for music they a spreading makes me want to come back. Back in the Netherlands, Popeye in Hengelo was the store where I came back to, over and over again. Johan Dollekamp is the sweet owner of this record store and orders records for me, when I want to buy one.

I love to think about previous Record Store Days back in The Netherlands. Those days I was traveling through NL to visit in-stores by band that I love and buying some records, which are especially released for RSD. Also I was dropping by Johan, because this day is also especially for him and his wonderful record store.

This year was a little bit different, as you can guess. There was a connection with Johan, because he sent be a record from Lucas Hamming, which I cannot buy here in Germany. It was just a coincident that this record arrived specific that day, but I couldn't be happier to receive it that day. I also visited a record store here in Berlin, which also was a great, but I am already looking forward a trip back to Holland for RSD 2018.

In that case I added Lucas Hamming to this Music On Friday update. A record you all should listen too and again a step further than the previous record. The record has some interesting and really catchy songs.

The other record I should mention, is a record by the Paceshifters. The released Waiting To Derail some time ago, but because of the fact I didn't have a WiFi connection at this moment I could listing to it by Spotify. Last week I got the time to have some WiFi and I could finally listen to this record. MAN, what can I say?! This record is really rocking! Can't wait to see those guys a again, for drinking beer and a steaming gig!

Other things I added are the newest record by Incubus, a new song by The War On Drugs (who's also coming to Berlin in the Autumn) and a new song by Nothing But Thieves. Hope you like it!
